ECHO HOPE FSX Project

The HOPE FSX project is funded by the DH-ECHO Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations, through the UCPM – Union Civil Protection Mechanism (Call: UCPM-2021-EXT).   The European University of Cyprus – CERIDES, is the coordinating organization for this project. 

The aim of the project is to improve civil protection preparedness and response capabilities of the Republic of Armenia

The HOPE FSX Consortium comprises of academic, civil protection, and private organizations

from the countries of Armenia, CyprusFrance, Greece, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.

Work package 1: HOPE FSX Project management

The DG-ECHO project HOPE started with a Kick-Off meeting in hybrid format that took place in Brussels, Belgium, on 31st of January 2022. Mr. Evangelos Katsaros, Research Associate from the European University of Cyprus (CERIDES)

Work package 2: Planning

The Exercise Study Visit of the HOPE FSX took place on 18 – 19 May 2022 in Yerevan, Armenia. The aim of this event was to create a common understanding of the actual needs and challenges of the Exercise, avoiding misunderstanding and mistakes in planning process.

Work package 3: Dissemination and visibility

In the frame of this WP, the following deliverables are completed/in progress: 1st Newsletter had been produced. The official logo for the project is developed, as well the profiles on social networks Face book and Tweeter.

The total duration of the project is 24 months.

South Caucasus countries’ efforts for sustainable development are clearly threatened by a devastating earthquake. Thus, sharing capacities, capabilities and resources, scientific support decision making, use of proven innovative tools and joint training/exercising can lead to radical improvement of international cross border cooperation procedures of the Mechanism.
